Hear from our देसी Founders

  • I grew up in a Marwari household where my dadi's kanastar was the family pharmacy. Health wasn't something we chased—it was what we ate, daily.

As a CA and 90s kid, I spent 12 years hunting for real food made the right way. But finding it? Nearly impossible. My own health became the wake-up call. The answer wasn't in some new trend—it was in the lakdi ghani oils and bilona ghee our grandmothers trusted.

That's why Pooja and I started Desi Kanastar—to bring back what actually works—small batches, old methods, pure ingredients.

  • I loved cooking, but honestly? I loved eating out more. Until it started affecting us—exhaustion for me, health scares for Ankit.

Born in Tatanagar and raised in Bikaner, I worked as a teacher and an accountant in Assam. But my real education started in my own kitchen when I asked: What are we actually eating?

I began recreating the foods we craved with ingredients I could trust. The result? More energy, better health, and one truth: real food doesn't age you—it heals you.

The Nostalgia of देसी Kitchens ka Magic

Food has always been our love language. Desi kitchens were magic—you waited, you stirred, you savoured. Ingredients lived in kanastars, sourced from local farms and trusted neighbours. The meals? Authentic, wholesome, healing.

Then industrialisation happened. We swapped homemade for processed convenience. Ingredient lists we can't pronounce replaced recipes passed down through generations. Our guts knew the truth: food got adulterated, and our health paid the price.

It was at that point that Ankit and Pooja chose to dedicate themselves to discovering a permanent solution. After 12 years of hunting for clean food and watching their own health suffer, they realised everyone was selling products, not nourishment. So Desi Kanastar was born—to bring back the healing magic of traditional kitchens, one kanastar at a time.

Today, we craft wood-pressed oils and bilona-churned ghee in small batches—the way our ancestors did. No additives. No shortcuts. Just pure, authentic nourishment from our desi kitchens to yours.

Our roots run deep in Rajasthan, where our products are handcrafted by local communities in Chittorgarh, Ratangarh, Bikaner, and Gopalpura. These artisans are the true keepers of Indian culture and flavours—and you can taste that magic in every batch.

We prove our purity through action: single-ingredient formulas, 100+ lab tests per batch, and traditional methods only—lakdi ghani pressing, bilona churning, slow heating. Real food, proven pure.

From one desi heart to another, we're bringing the traditional, wholesome way back into your kitchen. Because what goes inside should be as pure as the memories it brings.
